On Thursday 29 April, Hodgkison Director, Kristy McMillan, was thrilled to attend the ‘Turning of the Soil’ event at the site of construction of the new King’s Baptist Grammar School at Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills.
Minister Gardiner stated, “It’s very exciting to be present at the putative start of what’s going to be a world-class educational facility
that will serve this growing community for years ahead”.
The ceremony was also attended by the South Australian Minister for Education, John Gardner, the Member for Kavel, Dan Cregan, Mayor Ann Ferguson OAM, and members of the Mount Barker District Council.
The event marks a significant milestone in the collaborative partnership between Hodgkison Architects, King’s Baptist, WSP, and Schiavello to deliver a landmark school that will grow with the region.
The modern buildings, designed to environmentally sustainable principles, are a starting point for the growth of the school
within the region. The buildings will be integrated into the undulating landscape, and highlight natural materials to create light and airy classroom spaces. The site will also feature bespoke nature play spaces designed by Frenchenviro.
Stage 1 is expected to be completed by 2023.
